William Coffey

William F. Coffey, 90, of Sweet Home, a long time resident of Roseburg, died Oct. 5, 2014.

He was born Sept. 23, 1924 in Tillamook to Arthur L. and Nydia Muriel (Barker) Coffey.

He spent his lifetime residing in the Pacific Northwest: Oregon, Washington, Idaho and California. In these states he lived anywhere from the coast to inland, depending on the location of construction jobs. He was a general superintendent for Washington Construction.

Mr. Coffey was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a lifetime member of the AGC – International Union of Operating Engineers, local 701. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, hunting, fishing, boating, clam digging, crabbing. He loved photography, music, being with his friends and family and smoking salmon for them.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rosalie Coffey of Sweet Home; son Timothy A. Hurn of Bundaberg, Australia; daughter Cindy L. Rice of Sweet Home; and seven grandchildren.

Mr. Coffey was preceded in death by brothers Arthur and Lloyd; and sister Lucille.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Coffey’s name to any local emergency food pantry or food bank in Sweet Home or your own community or pick a child’s name off of a Christmas giving tree in your community. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
