Erland Charles Erickson, 72, of Foster, Ore. passed away on Monday, September 1, 2014 at River Bend Hospital in Springfield.
Born on July 18, 1942 in LaGrande to Charles and Dorothy (Stuart) Erickson, he was the youngest of two children.
Erland graduated from South Eugene High School in 1960. He easily made numerous and long-lasting friendships that continued to be a priority throughout his life and he nurtured those he loved without exception.
He married the love of his life, Lynne Christine Dubuque, in Snohomish, Wash. on Aug. 6, 1966.
After the birth of their son and daughter they settled in Lake Oswego, where he worked as the school district business manager. He later moved to Foster and became the business manager for the Sweet Home School District, where he remained for 20 years, retiring in 1999.
In 1980 Lynne and Erland together designed and built a custom log home overlooking Foster Reservoir. There was always a project in progress, from building a pond to re-finishing cabinets. They continued to lovingly work on the family home for 34 years.
Erland was preceded in death by his wife, Lynne, in January of this year and missed her presence in his life every day.
He is survived by his son, Sean and wife Carlene, of Sweet Home; daughter Brooke and husband Rob Robertson of Lander, Wyo.; sister Linda and husband Richard Birkby of Springfield; sister-in-law Patty and husband Mark Lervick of Marysville, Wash.; brother-in-law and great friend, Tom Dubuque of Snohomish, Wash. and seven grandchildren, Hayley, Tanner, Larisa, Rylee, Colton, Seth and Caeden.
Friends and loved ones are invited to come celebrate his life at the Sweet Home Community Center on Sept. 20 at 3 p.m.
