Kathy Elaine Seibert

Sept. 4, 1949 – July 14, 2014

Kathy Elaine Seibert, 64, of Christmas Valley passed away July 14, 2014.

She was born Sept. 4, 1949 to Thomas and Maxine (Wagoner) Goodwin in Lebanon. She was raised in Lebanon and Sweet Home.

In June 1966, Kathy married her high school sweetheart, Junior Rainey. Together they had a son, Larry Rainey and a daughter, Beverly Elaine.

They were married 26 years and divorced in 1992. Kathy married James Seibert in July 1992.

Kathy worked a variety of jobs over the years, but mostly spent her time as a loving mother.

After marrying James, they lived in Hebo, Tillamook and Christmas Valley.

Kathy was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago. She fought vigorously, courageously and relentlessly until the very end. The one wish she had that helped her fight for so long was to see her only grandchild graduate from high school. Her wish was granted.

Kathy always put others’ needs and wishes before her own even when she was on her death bed. Her thoughts and concerns were always of her family’s health and well-being.

Kathy leaves behind her loving husband, James Seibert; a loving son Larry Rainey; an adoring daughter Beverly (Elaine) Lucero; and the joy of her life, her granddaughter, Shelby Lucero.

She leaves behind brothers Tom Goodwin of New Mexico; Carl Goodwin of Eugene; and a sister Mary Goodwin of Sweet Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Barbara Simeral, and former husband Junior Rainey.

Kathy is survived by her very dearest and best friend, Leanne Babbitt of Christmas Valley, and her best friend and cousin Linda Carol, who were both with her to the very end. She also leaves behind her sisters-in-law (who were more like true sisters and stood by her through thick and thin); Mattie Speck, Margaret Duncan, Joyce Crebbs, Doris Sitton, Debbie Deaton, Jeanette Wallace, Ruby Webb and Cathy Davis.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to breast cancer research by way of Susan G. Komen for the Cure (http://ww5.komen.org).

Baird Memorial Chapel of La Pine is in charge of arrangements (541) 536-5104.
