Debra Kay Zook

Jan. 26, 1954 — April 13, 2014

Debra Kay Palkki Zook, 60, of McMinnville passed away from heart failure April 13, 2014 in McMinnville.

She was born in Sweet Home to Phillip H. and Helen P.H. Palkki. Debra graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1972, where she was very active in music and drama.

She married Ronald W. Zook, also of Sweet Home. She lived in many states and countries as Ron served in the Army.

She was a stalwart member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many callings. She was a professional genealogist and loved searching out her heritage, making connections with unknown extended family around the globe.

She will be remembered for her never ending smile, her robust laugh, her talent for singing, playing the piano (self taught), writing music, and her inclusion and acceptance of all people.

Debra is survived by her parents; her husband Ronald William Zook; sons Michael, Phillip and David Zook; daughters: Anna Peterson, Katie Gladwill and Talitha Harrell; brothers: Dennis Palkki of Milwaukie, OR; Marvin Palkki of Provo, Utah; and Tom Palkki of Corvallis, OR; sister Cheryl Funk of Sweet Home; and 18 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a baby brother; sister Phyllis Ann; and son-in-law Scott Peterson.

The funeral service took place on Friday, April 18, 2014 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in McMinnville.
