Jesse Nixon

Jesse Covis Nixon, 91, of Sweet Home died April 16. 2014.

He was born Feb. 28, 1923 in Weleetka, Okla. to James L. and Edna Elma (Mansfield) Nixon.

He served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1945 and received the Asiatic-Pacific Area Ribbon.

Mr. Nixon was a long-time resident of Albuquerque, N.M., but has lived in Sweet Home since 1997.

He was a retired aviation mechanic with TWA for 36 years. He was a member of Sweet Home Church of Christ.

Mr. Nixon is survived by his sons Jim and daughter-in-law Jackie Nixon of Martinez, Calif., Ron and daughter-in-law Kathy Nixon of Tecopa, Calif., and Steve and daughter-in-law Sharri Nixon of Sweet Home; a daughter, Karen and son-in-law David Cutting of Beaverton; sister Polly Mabry of Oregon City; brother Charles Nixon Sr. of Green River, Wyo.; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary in 2009.

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, also at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.

Final burial with military honors will follow at Gilliland Cemetery.
