Sharon Marylyn Rains, 72, of Sweet Home, died April 11, 2004.
She was born March 3, 1942 in Billings, Mont. to Jesse and Dorothy (Brown) Skaggs.
She was married to Robert C. Rains from 1958 to 1982. Mrs. Rains and two of her children then moved to Oregon to be with her sister Shirley. Eventually, all of her children followed her to Oregon.
Mrs. Rains drove school bus with Shirley for the Sweet Home School District, and she also worked at the Vets Club. That was where she met Jerry Kittson. They have enjoyed the last 30 years together. She loved him with all her heart. She also had worked at Pierce Mobile Homes while living in Montana and always worked extra jobs to make ends meet.
She endured much in her life, which made her a strong, loving woman. She fought a good fight and never wanted to give up.
Mrs. Rains loved her flowers, her animals and enjoyed watching the birds. She also loved watching her Oregon Ducks Football Team.
She was loved by all, who called her a variety of grandma names – Grammy, Grandma Daisy and Grandma Bird.
She is survived by her companion of 30 years, Jerry Kittson; children Tanna Rains, Pam and Leroy Sylvester, Becky Massad, Robert Rains, Lonny and Myra Rains, Carrie and Bruce Fineran; sister Shirley Lamb; brother Ralph Skaggs; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Skaggs; father Jesse Skaggs; daughter Lisa Rains; brothers Joe and Earl; and recently by brother-in-law Raymond Lamb.
A graveside service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home. A reception will follow at Community Chapel Barn, 42250 Ames Creek Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mrs. Rains’ name to SafeHaven Humane Society or Samaritan Evergreen Hospice.
