June 21, 1928 – Nov. 26, 2013
Raymond Leonard Lamb, 85, of Sweet Home died Nov. 26, 2013, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born June 21, 1928 in Reed Point, Mont. to Guy and Nettie (Berry)Lamb. His father died when he was a baby and his mother raised him and all four of his brothers and a sister by herself.
Mr. Lamb served in the U.S. Air Force as a mechanic. He spent four years in the Philippines. After his return from the service he met Shirley Skaggs in 1953 and they were married soon after. They moved to Sweet Home in 1963 where he worked as a lineman for the Sweet Home Pacific Power and Light crew.
Mr. Lamb’s interests included family, raising cows and using his tractor to tend the fields. He devoted much of his time and energy as a caregiver to family members. Those who were lucky enough to have known him will remember his smile, his laugh and gentle soul. He would have given a stranger the shirt off his back and smiled doing it.
Mr. Lamb is survived by his wife Shirley; three sons, Robert, Randy and Scott and their spouses; daughter Tammy and her spouse; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother Don.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Violet; and brothers George, Walt and Roy.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Final burial will be at Gilliland Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in his name can be made to SafeHaven Humane Society.
Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
