Doris Zumwalt

Doris May Zumwalt, 70, of Foster died Nov. 8, 2013.

She was born Aug. 29, 1943 in Pitcher, Okla. to Robert Randson and Ruth Elenore (Gratton) Hicks Randson. Her mother was half Cherokee Indian.

She married Stanley Zumwalt in 1963 in Reno, Nev. They lived in the San Martine/Morgan Hill, California area. Later they made their way north, living in San Jose and, eventually, Brownsville in 1993. The couple had always wanted to live in Oregon.

Mrs. Zumwalt attended the Brownsville and Lebanon Assembly of God Churches.

She was a tomboy when she was younger. As a youth she enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors. She loved flower gardening, watching birds and country drives.

Mrs. Zumwalt is survived by her husband, Stanley Zumwalt of Foster; four brothers, Bob Hicks of Stockton, Mo., Louis Hicks of Burkenfeld, Richard Hicks of Brownsville, and Roger Hicks of Sweet Home; four sisters, Charlotte Hunter of Sweet Home, Deloris Clinton of Brownsville, and Joyce Hicks and Ruth Peters, both of Red Bluff, Calif.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Eddy Hicks and James “Jimmy” Hicks.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
