Robert “Bob” Wade Mosby, 87, of Sweet Home died Oct. 28, 2013.
He was born Jan. 8, 1926 into a pioneer Lane County family in Cottage Grove, the son of Wade and Luella (Hurly) Mosby.
His early years were spent in Cottage Grove and Wendling. His family moved to Sweet Home for his final high school years, where he graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1944.
Upon graduation, Mr. Mosby joined the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in the Pacific Theater. Once discharged in October 1946, he married Molly Coulter, his high school sweetheart. They celebrated 67 years of marriage earlier this month.
He began his distinguished career in forest products with Santiam Lumber Company in 1946, concluding with his retirement as an executive for Louisiana-Pacific in 1992.
Mr. Mosby enjoyed boating, hunting, and golf. The Mosbys spent their early retirement years between residences in Bend and Yuma, Ariz. In 2007, they relocated to the Wiley Creek Community in Sweet Home.
He is survived by his wife Molly of Sweet Home; sister Mary Jean and brother-in-law Lee Simpson of Indian Wells, Calif.; four children and their spouses: Wade and daughter-in-law Susan Mosby of Lake Oswego, Wayne and daughter-in-law Karyn Mosby of Klamath Falls, Tim and daughter-in-law Robin Mosby of Kingman, Ariz., and Robbie and son-in-law Bill Nyara of Sweet Home; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 9, at Sweet Home Evangelical Church.
