Bernard Kolousek

Bernard Kolousek, 85, of Sweet Home, died July 14, 2013.

He was born July 31, 1927 in Crow Lake, S.D. to Martin and Theresa (Chopski) Kolousek.

He joined the U.S. Navy as a young man and was stationed in California. He met and later married Zelma Kirkpatrick. They remained in California until the early 1970s, when they relocated to Sweet Home. Mr. Kolousek worked in many of the local mills as an electrician. He was a member of the Sweet Home American Legion and the Sweet Home Genealogical Society.

He loved to garden, tend to his chickens and was a hobbyist as a winemaker. He was a loving husband and father.

Mr. Kolousek is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Patton) Friar of Sweet Home; a sister, Betty Petterson of South Dakota; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; sisters Dorothy, Florence and Sylvia; and a brother, Pete.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
