Joyce Colleen Graven, 79, of Sweet Home, died July 9, 2013.
She was born April 3, 1934 in Lebanon to Clarence and Evelyn (McCastle) Hall. Her father died while she was young and her mother married Phil Sitch, who raised her as his own daughter.
She married Alfred E. Graven and had three children Gail (1950), Greg (1951) and Penny (1953). She enjoyed working with the Lebanon School District while her children attended school.
The family moved from Cascadia to Sweet Home area in 1967.
Mrs. Graven worked seasonally at local canneries and attended beauty college. She loved to socialize and visit with the people in the area. She was a handy seamstress, sewing many of her children’s clothes. She would go crabbing and fishing along the Oregon coast, camping in her motorhome.
Mrs. Gra-ven is survived by her son Greg and daughter-in-law Sue Graven of La Pine; daughter Penny and son-in-law Mike Rice of Sweet Home; brothers Neil and sister-in-law Kitty Hall of Washington, and Les and sister-in-law Dee Hall of Lebanon; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Graven; and her daughter, Gail Graven.
A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
