Helen Dorene Grant, 92, of Forest Grove, formerly of Sweet Home, died June 22, 2013 at The Gardens Assisted Living Care. She was born in Roseau, Minn. to Charles and Inga (Norquist) Erlandson.
She married Thomas A. Grant in Roseau on Nov. 9, 1938. In 1948 they moved their family out west to Oregon, settling in Holley in 1950.
Mrs. Grant started attending the Sweet Home Mennonite Church when she moved into Sweet Home. In 2004 she moved to Hillsboro to live with her daughter Gayle and in 2009 she moved into The Gardens Assisted Living Care in Forest Grove.
Her hobbies included sewing, crossword puzzles, reading books, studying her Bible and volunteering in the Awana program at church. She enjoyed music, spending time with her family and friends from her women’s Bible study, and sharing God’s love with others.
Mrs. Grant is survived by her sons, “Smokey” Tommy Grant Jr. and daughter-in-law Diane, Wayne Grant and daughter-in-law Karen, and daughter Gayle Grant-Childress; former daughter-in-law Maryanne Grant; brother Ralph Erlandson; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; cousin Roger Norquist; and all her beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Grant; son Loren G. Grant; son-in-law Roger Childress; and great-granddaughters Cathleen Childress and Kimmie James.
A memorial service was held June 26 at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
