Arietta Ellis

March 16, 1942 – June 3, 2013

Arietta Ellis, 71, of Sweet Home, died at her home June 3, 2013.

She was born March 16, 1942 in Lincoln, Neb., the daughter of Lawrence Franklin and Doris Ellen Start.

She was raised and educated in California and on Oct. 16, 1969 married Earl Ellis in Carson City, Nev. They moved to Oregon in 1973.

She worked for the states of Oregon and California for 33 years.

Mrs. Ellis was a member of the Sweet Home Elks and VFW; American Legion in Lebanon and Eagles in Albany. She enjoyed her loving kitties, going on ocean cruises and auto racing – especially NASCAR, as well as on-line shopping.

She is survived by two daughters, Connie LaCount, of Hillsboro and Rose Major of Sweet Home; two sons, Ken Ellis of Bakersfield, Calif. and Andy LaCount of Sweet Home; five sisters, Barbara Chill, Maryanne Start, Kathy Ridout, Debi Start and Alana “Petes” Johnson; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother, Lawrence Franklin “Joe” Start; and grandson William N. Cochran II.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Safe Haven in Tangent, or Paws For A Cause in Brownsville.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
