Jon Riley Saling, 63, of Sweet Home died on Wednesday at his home.
Mr. Saling was born in Great Bend, Kan., to William and Gloria (Schlehuber) Saling.
He went to school in Great Bend and was baptized there.
He attended Fort Hays State College in Kansas where he met his wife, Lynda.
They moved to Oregon in 1977 and he got a job at Northwest Natural Gas Company. He became a leakage inspector for Northwest Natural. He loved his job and met most of his best friends there.
He was proud of his children who became outstanding adults. He enjoyed watching them play all of their individual sports and coached when he could. His passion was fishing and being with his dog, Rogue.
Mr. Saling is survived by his wife, Lynda Saling of Wilsonville; sons and daughter, Troy, Cory and Anna; mother, Gloria; brother, Cary and wife, Marcia.
He was preceded in death by his father William and brother Allen.
Memorials may be given to Wounded Warriors or a charity of the donor’s choice.
A private service has been held by the family.
There will be a Celebration of Life gathering on Saturday, April 27th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Northwest Natural Auditorium- 7150 Supra Dr., Albany, OR, 97389.
Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
