Albert Knight

Albert L. “Al” Knight, 70, of Sweet Home, died March 17, 2013 in Springfield at Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend.

He was born May 14, 1942 in Napa, Calif. to William and Ethel (Fleming) Knight.

Mr. Knight lived in Napa for most of his life. He attended school there and later owned and operated his own construction and excavation company. He married Carol Redfern on Oct. 28, 1961 in Reno, Nev.

The Knights moved to Sweet Home in 1991. He started Mid-Valley Excavation, where he worked until retiring in 2011. He enjoyed doing things for anyone in need.

He was a member of the Sweet Home Mennonite Church.

Mr. Knight is survived by his wife, Carol Knight of Sweet Home; son Dale Allen Knight of Napa, Calif.; sister Roena Conway of Ocala, Fla.; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; and nephews Mark Conway of St. Petersburg, Fla. and William Knight of Ukiah, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dean Ray Knight; brother Walter Lewis Knight; and his parents.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, at the Sweet Home Mennonite Church.
