Vernon Sutton Jr.

Vernon Eugene “Buz” Sutton Jr., 64, of Sweet Home died Nov. 22, 2012.

He was born July 29, 1948 in Vallejo, Calif. to Vernon (Sr.) and Lily Jean (Erickson) Sutton.

He resided in Riddle until graduating from Riddle High School in 1966. After graduation he served in the U.S. Navy until 1993. Mr. Sutton lived a year in Oklahoma before moving to Albany in 1994. He then moved to Sodaville and lived there until 2007, when he moved to Sweet Home.

Mr. Sutton worked for Pacific Cast Tech for 15 years. He belonged to the Church of Christ for many years, then attended the Holley Church. He enjoyed reading, camping, fishing, cooking, wood carving and people.

Mr. Sutton is survived by his wife, Susan O’Donnell Sutton of Sweet Home; children Erik Sutton and daughter-in-law Michelle of Sweet Home, Amy Sutton Hinton and son-in-law Russell of Oklahoma City, Okla., and step-son Brody Johnson; sisters Sylvia Nichols and husband Ken, and Liz Risseeuw and husband Lonnie both of Roseburg; three grandchildren; four nieces and nephews; and special great-niece Chandra Risseeuw of Albany.

Contributions may be made in his name to the V.A. or the college fund for Brody Johnson.

Celebration of Life will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Buz Sutton home.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
