Virgil Raymond, 70, of Sweet Home died Nov. 24, 2012.
He was born Nov. 5, 1942 in Cottage Grove to Ransom Royal and Bessie (Gertchie) Raymond.
He spent his childhood in Florence, then moved to the Sweet Home and Lebanon areas, where he lived for the remainder of his life. He served in the Air Force between 1962 and 1964 and was stationed in Alaska during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Raymond was a millwright and worked as a manager for many years at Woodx in Brownsville. He loved his dog Macie. He enjoyed watching deer and wildlife, fishing, camping and spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Mr. Raymond is survived by his daughters, Sandra McCardy of Lebanon, Michelle Raymond of Albany, and Valerie Wolfe of Sweet Home; son Brian Raymond of Troutdale; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and dog Macie.
He was preceded in death by sons Gary Raymond and Ron Raymond; his parents; brother Clarice Raymond; and many other brothers and sisters.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at Gilliland Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2 p.m. at Sweet Home VFW.
