Lenora Jean Slater, 72, of Sweet Home died July 27, 2012 at her home, surrounded by family.
She was born May 14, 1940 in Salem, the daughter of Loren C. and Nora M. (Hogan) Ames.
She married Wayne H. Slater on Oct. 5, 1956 in Albany. They lived in Sweet Home until 1968, when they moved to South Bend, Wash. There they owned Slater Logging with Wayne’s brother, Caryl. They returned to the Sweet Home in 1974.
Mrs. Slater was a full-time mother and wife, with the exception of the few years she worked at White’s Electronics. She enjoyed playing Keno and home decoration. She loved spending time with family and friends.
Mrs. Slater is survived by her daughters, Ileta LeBlanc and Terie Slater-McKay; sister Phyllis Ames; niece Tina Lester; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2008.
Viewing will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1 at Sweet Home Evangelical Church.
