Vera Evelyn Gilbert, 76, of Sweet Home died July 4, 2012 at her home.
She was born Feb. 6, 1936 in Arnett, Okla. to Roy Rolla and Elsie Evelyn (Gray) Richard.
She was raised in Harmon, Okla. She married Gerald R. Bruce in California in 1955; they were later divorced. She married Robert Gilbert in Bakersfield, Calif. in 1968 and moved to Sweet Home in 1971.
Mrs. Gilbert loved gardening, quilting, basketry, bookbinding, ceramics and poetry. She enjoyed traveling. She loved her kitties. She really enjoyed helping people and was very generous. Friendships were very important to her.
She is survived by her daughter, Barb Lanz of Sweet Home; son Roy and daughter-in-law Patty Bruce of Salem; brother Gordon Richard of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four grandchildren; and twin great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Moore and Burma Richard.
No formal services are planned.
