Ella Ruth Hicks, 71, of Sweet Home died Dec. 24, 2011 in Springfield, Mo.
She was born Nov. 22, 1940 in Hattisburg, Miss. to William Forrest and Mary Roberta (Hartfield) Lee. She lived in California, Missouri, Mississippi and Oregon, moving to Sweet Home in 2009.
She married James Lee Hicks in San Jose, Calif. on Aug. 24, 1957. Mrs. Hicks was a registered nurse and a diabetes educator. She attended the Brownsville Assembly of God. She enjoyed sharing the gospel, singing, and crocheting.
Mrs. Hicks is survived by her children, Daniel Hicks of Sweet Home, David Hicks and Jerry Hicks of Walnut Grove, Mo., Mary Hicks of Boliver, Mo., Allen Hicks of Gilroy, Calif. and Dorothy Lapham of Melbourne, Australia; brother Farell Lee of Sacramento, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Hicks; and siblings Geneva, Harvey Ray, Lena Merrill, Kenner Jean, Jeremiah, Samuel, James Monroe and James Neil.
Funeral services were held Dec. 30 at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
