Clarance Crain

Clarance G. Crain, 61, died Dec. 16, 2011 at the Veterans Hospital in Portland, surrounded by his children.

He was born May 10, 1940 in Oxley, Mo. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he returned home where he worked various jobs to support his family.

Mr. Crain was an avid fisherman who was known and loved in the community for his sense of humor and for telling one great story after another.

He is survived by daughters Lisa Waxler of Eureka, Calif., Rhonda McKinney and Veronica Crain of Redding, Calif.; son Gregory Crain, also of Redding; sisters Mary Ellen Carter of Sweet Home and Evelyn Crain of Orangeville, Calif.; brothers Larance Craine of Citrus Heights, Calif. and Ralph Crain of Boron, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Crain, on Feb. 11, 2010.

A celebration of life service is being planned for May 12, 2012 in Sweet Home.
