Soldotna resident Jewell Gelene Hunt 82, died Wednesday. November 30, 2011 at providence Hospital in Anchorage. There will be a private service of family and friends at the Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
She was born March 8, 1929 to Bill and Verna Dawson in Harrison County Arkansas. Married to the love of her life J.T. “Brownie” Hunt in Sweet Home OR. in 1949. In 1974 they moved to Soldotna AK. She was very proud of the fact that she earned an associate degree in art at Kenai Peninsula Community College at the age of 57.
She worked for the census bureau on the 1990 census, a job she truly loved. She was an artist and produced many beautiful paintings, she also loved flowers, gardening and most of all God. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and always had time for everyone.
Jewell was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years J.T. Hunt, her sister, Lou Poitras and her parents Bill and Verna Dawson. She is survived by her sister Eva Nell Karlin of Soldotna, her stepdaughter Darlene Spratt and her husband Darell of Tillamook OR, her daughter of Billy Jean Yoder and her husband Walt of North Branch MN, her son Jim Hunt of OR and his wife Vicky, her daughter Verna June Kosydar and her husband Les of Sterling AK, her daughter Helen Hope Hunt and her fiance Bob Hensler of Sterling AK, her son Jeptha Thomas Hunt Jr. and his wife Glenda of Soldotna AK, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren too numerous to mention, and she loved them all.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai, AK.
