Gladys Wilken

Gladys Wilma Wilken, 87, died Sept. 21, 2008.

She was born Nov. 6, 1920 in Mabel, the youngest child of Evan and Mary Troxel.

She spent her early years in the Pendleton area. At age 16 she married Bradley Baker. They had four daughters and a son.

After Mr. Baker’s death in 1969 she moved to Walla Walla, Wash., where she met and married Ben Wilken. The Wilkens adopted another daughter, Elizabeth.

Mrs. Wilken worked for many years in Pendleton-area hospitals. She was a long-time member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her church service included Relief Society secretary, Sunday School teaching, missionary work, home teaching, genealogy teaching, personal genealogy research and visiting teaching.

Mrs. Wilken is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Roberta McCann of Pendleton, Rita and Don Osborn of Lebanon, Donna and Eric Anderson of Spokane, Wash., Judy Wallace of Sweet Home, and Elizabeth Davis of Foster; 12 grandchildren, 29 great- grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bradley Baker and Ben Wilken, and her son Johnny.

Viewing will be from noon to 12:40 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, in the Relief Society at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Sweet Home. A funeral Service will be at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Burial will be at Gilliland Cemetery.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
