June J. Patterson, 81, of Sweet Home died July 5, 2008 at her home.
She was born June 23, 1927 in Eagle Grove, Iowa, the youngest daughter of Archie G. and Ruby (Woodard) Newcomb.
She married Eugene Patterson in 1947 while still living in Iowa. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during the beginning of the Korean War. He later sent for Mrs. Patterson, which eventually brought them both to California.
After his discharge from the service, Mr. Patterson worked in automotive industry. In 1968 the couple relocated to Sweet Home, Oregon and worked together at their own automotive paint shop until Mr. Patterson had to retire due to his health.
Mrs. Patterson found employment with Hill Timber, working in their offices until retiring herself in 1990.
She was a member of the Sweet Home Evangelical Church and was quite active in the local women’s group.
Mrs. Patterson is survived by her husband, Eugene “Gene” Patterson of Sweet Home; some nieces and nephews, and her church family.
She was preceded in death by her three sisters and parents.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, at Sweet Home Evangelical Church.
