Warren Way

Jan. 3, 1923 – July 23, 2007

Warren Robert Way died of a stroke July 23, 2007 at Lebanon Community Hospital.

He was born Jan. 3, 1923 in San Francisco and grew up in Castro Valley and Hayward, Calif. He served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific on destroyers and carriers throughout World War II, then continuing his military career in the U.S. Coast Guard, retiring in 1965.

He married Marie Ellen (Rymer) Way in Chicago, Ill. on March 13, 1946 and they lived their early marriage throughout the Pacific Rim, including a time in Guam and many years in southeast Alaska. Mr. Way enjoyed his time in Alaska, fishing and flying as a crew chief with the Coast Guard. After his military retirement he continued a second career as a building manager with Washington Federal Bank in Boise, Idaho.

His wife, Marie died in 1999 after many years of home care by Mr. Way. He was married to Shirley (McGinnis-Hutchins-Riggs) Way of Sweet Home in 2000.

Mr. Way is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons Michael and his wife Betty and Stephen and his wife Cheryl, all of Boise; grandson Mark and his wife Cheryl, of Boise; sister, Barbara Ross of Battle Ground, Wash.; stepsons Barry Hutchins of Salem and Nick, Dan, and Wes Hutchins of Sweet Home; three great-grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, two nephews and one niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be held in Boise.
