Terry Lynn Brooks, 57, of Sweet Home, passed away Sunday while fishing with his granddaughter, Madison Brooks at Foster Lake.
Mr. Brooks was born in Lebanon to Charles and Rowena (Bedell) Brooks. He graduated from Sweet Home High School. He worked at the family meat market and later worked for Willamette Industries.
He was inducted into the Army in June 1968 and served in Vietnam as a helicopter crew chief.
He then worked as an emergency medical technician in Sweet Home for several years.
One of his great accomplishments was the modernization of the ambulance service in Sweet Home through educating people of the need to update to a new ambulance system and by raising funds to support the effort.
Mr. Brooks taught EMT classes at Linn-Benton Community College, and CPR and crash injury management to various organizations.
He was Junior First Citizen of 1975. He served on the Sweet Home City Council in 1980.
He married Sharon Walker December 29, 1979 in Sweet Home. His greatest accomplishment was raising his four children and was very proud of how they turned out. He loved to hunt and fish.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Mark Bottoroff of Cave Creek, Ariz, Matthew Bottoroff of Sweet Home, Ken Brooks of Las Vegas and Tabetha Brooks of Sweet Home and his extra son and friend, Jerry VanEpps of Sweet Home; his sister, Kay Seiber of Sweet Home, and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service is planned at a future date.
