Gillian U. Nielsen, 70, of Sweet Home, died March 28. 2006 of breast cancer.
She was born in Ethiopia to missionary parents. The family returned to Denmark because of World War II conflicts in Ethiopia. Her family immigrated to the United States in 1952, and nine months later her high school sweetheart followed. She married George Nielsen on June 13, 1954 in Glendale, Calif.
