Ethel Ellis

Ethel Isabella Ellis, 81, of Sweet Home died Dec. 5, 2015.

She was born May 11, 1934 in Yakima, Wash. to Byron Hunter and Mary Elizabeth (Blanchard) Gift.

Her family moved to Sweet Home when she was 3 years old. Since then she has lived in Sweet Home and Foster.

Mrs. Ellis worked for Stayton Canning Company. She was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church.

She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, embroidery, canning and games. She loved camping, traveling, making candy and, most especially, her grandchildren.

Mrs. Ellis is survived by her children, Lynn Francis Ellis and Diana Elaine Nicholson, both of Lebanon, Veronica Marie Ellis of Sweet Home, Carlene Kay Lutton of Everson, Wash., Lucinda Sue Dassinger of Vancouver, Wash.; siblings Edith Gertrude Slater of Brush Creek, Mary Ruth Shockey of Redmond, Theodore Phillip Gift of Eugene; 15 grandchildren; 29½ great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce Evan Ellis; sisters: Margret Helin Gift, Margret Isabella Gift, Katherine Ester Majors, Margie Ellamay Brush; brothers: Charles Hunter Leroy Gift, Evelyn Francis Gift, Robert Aaron Gift and Byron Carl “Mike” Gift.

Viewing will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. A service will follow at 11 a.m. Final burial will be at Liberty Cemetery.
