Jimmy Dale Harper

Aug. 28, 1938 – July 24, 2015

Jimmy Dale Harper, 76, of Sweet Home, passed away Friday, July 24, 2015. He was born to Oscar and Gertrude (Chronister) Harper on Aug. 28, 1938 in Monroe, Okla.

Jimmy moved with his family from Wright City, Okla. to Sweet Home at a young age and lived in Sweet Home for the remainder of his life. After attending high school, Jimmy served as a Private First Class in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959 when he was honorably discharged.

He worked six years at Mid-Ply and later retired after working 26 years from Foster Plywood.

Jimmy married Charlotte Boer on Dec. 22, 1961.

He enjoyed, hunting, camping, and gardening, collecting coins and rocks. Jimmy happily attended all of his grandchildren’s sporting events, and loved laughing with anyone he met as he walked the pathways of Sweet Home.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 53 years: Charlotte Harper; four children, David Fowler and girlfriend Stephanie Moss of Riverton, Wyo., Bobby Fowler of Sweet Home, Dale Harper and wife Dawn of Hillsboro, and Ladema Hummer and husband Steve of Lebanon; brother Wayne Harper of Punkin Center, Ariz.; sisters Barbara Tenbusch of Sweet Home, Juanita Bradshaw of Pendleton, Gwenda Hackworth of Sweet Home, and Yvonne Bean of Moscow, Texas; seven grandchildren – Crystal Merrill, Mitch Fowler, Desiree Fowler, Zachary Harper, Jake Harper, Kyle Hummer and Hailey Hummer; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brothers OB, Dirrell and Bud.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, at Sweet Home Christian Church, 1825 Long St.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
