Robert Pace

June 18, 1949 – Feb. 10, 2015

Robert Allen Pace, 65, of Sweet Home died Feb. 10, 2015.

He was born June 18, 1949 in Sweet Home to App and Georgia May (Green) Pace.

Mr. Pace served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps for two years, during which time he received the following service awards: Cross of Gallantry (with Palm and Frame), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Rifle Marksman Badge and the Purple Heart.

In 1985 he moved from Oregon to Lakeport, Calif., where he worked as a grounds maintenance worker for the city Parks Department until he retired in 2007.

Mr. Pace liked to read, piece together puzzles, watch NASCAR with his brother and go cave digging.

He is survived by his daughters, Tammy Lee of Prineville and Sandra Pace of Lebanon; son Ricky Pace of Heber Springs, Ark.; sister Shirley; brothers Gary, Dennis, Steve and Richard; and three grandchildren, Todd Moe, Kyle Lee and Austin Lee.

He was preceded in death by his mother Georgia (2009), father App (1982) and brother Kenny (2013).

A funeral was held Feb. 17 at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Burial, with military honors, followed at Gilliland Cemetery.
