Bertha L. Malone, 101, of Sweet Home died July 10, 2014.
She was born Nov. 10, 1912 in Holley to Elmer Ray and Mary Ann Groshong, one of 14 children, with three older brothers (Wayne, Delmar and Arthur), four older sisters (Alta, Edith, Alice and Mary), and six younger brothers (Raymond, Ernie, Orville, Walter, Ivan and Royal.)
Mrs. Malone lived in the Holley area all her life. She married Fred T. Malone in 1931. She was known for making pies and hand quilting pieced quilts. She enjoyed traveling and loved flowers. She was a member of Holley Christian Church, the Royal Neighbors, Rebekah Lodge, the Holley Grange, Sweet Home Senior Center and Sweet Home Gleaners.
The Malones had no children. She is survived by a large extended family. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband in 1978, and all of her siblings except her youngest brother Royal.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at Holley Christian Church.
