Betty Pitts

Sept. 8, 1925 – March 28, 2014

Betty Ann Pitts, 88, of Sweet Home died March 28, 2014.

She was born Sept. 8, 1925 in Nowata, Okla. to Alta and Raymond Riley. She grew up in and around Independence, Kan.

During World War II she received her teaching certificate from Independence College. She taught school until the end of the war.

She married Kenneth Pitts after the war and they moved to Klamath Falls. Three of their children were born there. Their youngest was born while they resided in Hayfork, Calif.

The Pittses divorced in 1963 and she began her career with the U.S. Forest Service. She retired in 1991.

Mrs. Pitts is survived by her sister, Virginia McRae; children Larry Pitts, Don Pitts, Kathy Siemens and Penny Leland.; nine grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Mildred (Jewel), Eunice, Alice and her brother Raymond (Buck) Riley.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, at Community Chapel.
