Edwin Gammell

Edwin William Gammell, 84, of Sweet Home died Dec. 16, 2012.

He was born in Hepner on Oct. 26, 1929, the youngest of nine children, to Arthur William and Marie Ida (Job) Gammell.

He served in the Army Air Corps. During the service he worked as a tail gunner and sharp shooter with pistol and carbine. He was discharged with honors in 1947.

Mr. Gammell lived in Oregon all his life, spending time on the coast, in the valley, in the desert and in the mountains.

He was as member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Sweet Home.

Mr. Gammell was a mechanic and welder and retired from State Highway Department in 1990. He was a member of the Elks, Eagles, Moose, American Legion, Operating Engineers 701 and the NRA.

Mr. Gammell loved hunting, fishing, western music, singing, playing guitar, and gardening – especially his fruit trees.

He is survived by a sister, Vada DeMoss; daughters Sharon, Wilma, Barbara, Robbin and Edwina (Eddee); 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Phyllis Klukkert in 1994 and Lucille Weiland in 2011.

At his request, no services are planned. Memorial contributions can be made in his name to a charity of your choice.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
