Mable Anna Kirk, 83, of Sweet Home died Nov. 7, 2007.
She was born Feb. 16, 1924 in Molalla to Peter and Gladys (Prink) Kister.
She married Joe Kirk in 1942. After World War II the couple came to Sweet Home and decided to make their home here. Mr. Kirk drove log trucks and Mrs. Kirk raised a family. She was involved in Royal Neighbors and the American Legion Auxilliary in Sweet Home.
Mrs. Kirk enjoyed sewing, needle work, and crocheting. She gave away many of the things she made. She baked, made candy and gardened all summer long when she was younger. Before Joe passed away they liked to travel and would go to Arizona. She continued corresponding with the people she met in her travels for many years after.
She is survived by four children, Joyce Farris of Sweet Home, Janice Elaine Kent of Albany, Joe Kirk Jr. of Lebanon, and Curtis Kent of Springfield; six siblings; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Kirk and one sister.
A funeral was held Nov. 12 at the 18th and Long Church of Christ, with burial at Gilliland Cemetery. Contributions in Mrs. Kirk’s name can be made to the American Diabetes Association or charity of choice. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
