Calvin Lofton, 74, of Sweet Home, died Sept. 8, 2006.
He was born to George W. and Mozell Lofton June 22, 1932 in Delhi, La.
He met Clarice Fay in Orofino, Idaho, in 1956 and they were married June 18, 1958 in Lewiston, Idaho.
Before coming to Oregon, Mr. Lofton worked in the woods and also did ranch work.
The couple came to Sweet Home in 1962 to work on Green Peter Dam. Mr. Lofton later worked on Foster Dam as well. After the dam projects were finished, he found employment with Willamette Industries and later worked 10 years for the Sweet Home School District, before retiring in 1989.
Mr. Lofton loved the outdoors, especially fishing. He will always be remembered for his jovial disposition, his willingness to help others and his fervent love for the Lord. He was a part of The Church of Christ at Hwy. 20.
Mr. Lofton is survived by his wife, Clarice; son, Calvin Brian of Portland, brothers, Mozell Lofton of Texas, Huey, Jewell and G.W.Lofton, all of Louisiana; and by numerous nieces & nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and sisters; Cecil and Rodessa. His youngest son, Gregory Alan died in 1976.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the Church of Christ, 3025 Hwy. 20, Sweet Home.
