Well, the City Council voted to steal the Police and Library levy overage. Three voted no and four voted to do it, including our mayor.
Earlier, the City Council voted to increase the city manager’s wages to more than $9,500 per month, even as they raised our already high water rate so the average Sweet Home family can’t afford a green lawn and a garden!
Our City Council loves to pay outside consultants to tell them what to do. (We do have people here in Sweet Home to consult with.) In one area alone, they paid $530,640. This was a large part of the $596,305 total costs of water treatment. What’s wrong with this picture?
Let’s all show up at City Council meetings and look them in the eye and give our opinion on how they spend our money. They meet at 6:30 p.m. every second and fourth Tuesday, in the police station meeting room until they move to the new City Hall.
I know, we’re settled in for the evening then. But – this is important!
