In response to “Wolves Lose, as Always” from Diane Diute (Nov. 18), preach on, Diane.
Where do these humans get off thinking they can live on this planet? They eat meat, hunt and try to protect their livestock, as if these ranchers have some right to live here and protect what they’ve worked hard for.
Most of those ranchers and farmers are most likely conservatives and most likely think somehow that gives them the right to freely practice their religion. What morons.
According to your numbers, there are 81 wolves in Oregon. Your numbers also state there are way too many humans on this planet and your solution is genocide. Well, I think we need to open our hearts, as you put it, and free up some space for these wolves so they can live freely and hang out with the ever-dwindling population of majestic mountain lions.
My proposal for your genocide idea? I’ll gather the candles, cloaks and punch. We’ll pass it around and prepare for the journey. We just need a leader to get it started, so the leader can get there first and let the people in the space ship know our head count. It’s pretty much my best idea ever.
Getting back to the wolf numbers: A warped thought process can manipulate numbers to fit your agenda. Take Sweet Home, for instance. Main Street, from Holley to Clark Mill, is 1.6 miles. That distance houses 17 crosswalks crossing the street in that short stretch. Sweet Home has 9,000 people living here.
I’m not sure of the number of visitors a year, but the four total stop lights keep whatever number it is under control.
A portion of the Las Vegas strip, from Tropicana to Sahara, runs four miles. There are six overhead and nine regular crosswalks, for a total of 15, which is two less than Sweet Home. Take away the overhead crosswalks, which do not stop cars and it’s only six crosswalks.
Las Vegas has over 2 million people living in the metropolitan area. There are over 3 million visitors a month, totaling over 41 million a year, to add to the population on the strip.
By these numbers, Sweet Home went overkill on the crosswalk situation and wasted a ton of white paint. Why so many?
I have a theory. Crosswalks stop cars. Cars kill the environment. The longer a car sits on the road, the longer it can kill said environment.
Many of the people driving those silent killers are conservatives who hate said environment.
Most conservatives practice religion and are against abortion. Less abortions lead to more babies, which lead to more pedestrians and more drivers, which lead to more killing of said environment.
Sweet Home crosswalks are the biggest conspiracy since every other thing a conservative has done.
In closing, America rocks and it’s the greatest country on the planet. If you don’t like it, please leave. I did start with the word “please,” so that makes it OK.
We have freedoms and rights.
We have freedom of speech, in addition to the freedom to reply to that speech.
You do not have the right to be unoffended.
