Editor:
The county wants to spend another million bucks for a resort on Foster Lake.
First, it’s another mistake like when (to quote a county commissioner), “somebody said, ‘facilities for “Fairs” were good business for counties to get into and we got stuck for a million +++ with a mud hole down by HWY 34.’” Far as I know we never made a buck on it.
Secondly, there are several privately owned trailer parks in the immediate area. Government should NEVER compete with private enterprise! Period!
Third, if a smart businessman couldn’t make a go of it, how in the world does the county think it can? Fourth, if it is such a good deal where are the other businessmen who would step forward and take it over?
New subject: I, for one, think elected government administrators should be changed periodically. The public is too involved with their personal concerns and are willing to check a box and let someone else run the operation. The best way to keep elected officials on the straight and narrow path is to change them with regularity.
