The government, under “sequestration,” will still receive more money this year than they did last year. So, please tell me, how can they not function at the same level this year as they did last year? Huh?
By and large, cops and firemen are paid by taxes raised on the local level. If the president says that sequestration will cause a cut in local police and firemen, he’s a liar.
My grandmother used to say if you said something that you believed to be true but it was not, then that was a mistake. But if you said something that you knew was not the truth was the truth, then that was a lie – and you were a liar. The president knows what he is saying is not the truth.
Saying that “sequestration” is cut in the budget is a lie and to say that, under anybody’s rule, makes you a liar.
President Obama said “You play by my rules or I am going to take my ball and go home!” During the Q&A after the “talk” he stated that he would agree to a “continuing resolution.”
A C.R. basically says that the government will continue to receive, in the future, the same amount of money it is currently receiving. No raise in revenue, no cut in revenue!
A few sentences later he said that “janitors and police” would receive a pay cut tomorrow. If they can pay them full pay today (and everything else the government does) then if they receive the same amount of money tomorrow under a C.R., why would they have to cut their pay?
That, sir, is patently a lie!
If the conservatives were smart, they would offer him a C.R. for the whole next year. That would not be a cut, but it would result in the government getting the same amount as it gets now but less than if they allow sequestration to happen, which is actually a raise in the amount of money the government will get in the next fiscal year.
