After job hunting for months and months, my guy answered an on-line ad for farm work near Scio.
After a promising interview, he found boots. Monday evening, he was offered the job. We were elated.
At 5:45 a.m. the next day, he arrived only to be told, “The farm worker was keeping the job. Sorry, but that’s the breaks.”
No phone call. No offer to reimburse the 40 miles of wasted gas. He was crushed and shaken but instantly started job hunting again on foot.
How could a human being do that to another? I know the economy is making people homeless. We are almost there ourselves. I didn’t know it was making people heartless as well.
