Thank you, Sweet Home, “times 12.”
This summer 12 kids from our town had an unforgettable week of fun, adventure, and just plain being loved at Camp Lutherwood and you made it happen.
Fir Lawn Lutheran had no kids but did have an idea to send local kids to camp.
With the help of great people in the community like Andi Casteel of the Boys and Girls club, Pastor Rick of Cornerstone Fellowship, and the folks who host Manna Meals at the Methodist church, we found kids who could use a week of love. Thank you!
KFIR radio and The New Era both did a great job of getting the word out about what was happening. They embraced the idea of a church with no kids wanting to do something good for Sweet Home’s kids. Thank you!
People and businesses from the whole community donated auction items and money to help raise almost $4,500 in around six weeks to pay all the expenses for the campers. Thank you!
Finally, a group of caring and creative people at Fir Lawn who choose to remain anonymous worked tirelessly to make this happen. Thank you!
Our hope is to expand this effort in 2013.
We have many kids in Sweet Home who could use a week of love and all that other good stuff.
Next year let’s send 24, at least.
