Happy Halloween

As of Oct. 31, according to the U.N., there will be 7 billion people on the planet. By 2025 8 billion. 10 billion by 2083.

“My father had 25 children – I have 14 so far, and I expect to produce more in the future,” says Ahmed Kasadha, a Ugandan male.

He considers a large family a sign of success and a guarantee of support in his old age.

If that’s not reason enough to fix and maintain our own Social Security, Medicare/aid and Planned Parenthood programs, I don’t know what is.

The other person in this news article that quotes Kasadha is a woman and she says, “I regret to have made all those children (9). If I were to start over, I would only make two or three.”

That says it all for me. Leave the business of reproduction in the much smarter hands of the women!

We can’t properly provide for/employ what we have. It’s time for sustainable development (SD). SD is a pattern of resource use that aims to meet human needs while preserving the environment so that these needs can be met not only in the present, but also for generations to come.

I say, get out of Iraq and Afghanistan, take that money and reopen the space program. We need another planet ASAP.
