Music plans a step in right direction

The reality of the volunteerism and cooperation that make Sweet Home work is evident to even a newcomer who arrives in town and sees the Community Center, the Oregon Jamboree, the Highway 20 median strip, the murals.

Probing a little deeper, there are plenty more evidences. Without that spirit there would be no Christmas tree scholarship auction, no rodeo, no Singing Christmas Tree, no youth sports and no lots of other things.

You think back to the golden years of Sweet Home, when there was as much or more volunteerism. Those were days of chess clubs in the local schools, a swim club with more than 100 children enrolled, baseball teams that traveled the state, the beginnings of today’s thriving wrestling program, music programs, theater and much more
