Police need our support

Editor:

It will be time this fall to vote to keep our Sweet Home Police Department. Sweet Home has been my life and I love this town and want to see what is best for my city. So let’s look at what it would be like without a Police Department.

There is a drug problem throughout our nation, and Sweet Home is no different. Drug users need money and then they steal to get it. I don’t know the answer to what to do about drugs unless we simply make such tough laws that no drug maker could get out of prison. But since our laws are not strict enough, the police arrest the person and the law just turns that person loose. How sad. If there were no police men on duty in Sweet Home, it would not be safe.

Now we have a fine Police Department and we need to help them out. I have learned that it is a privilege to vote and if you don’t – you may lose some of the freedoms you have always expected to be there. Of course to keep our police force, we have to vote yes.

And when you need to call for help, they are right there to help you. I know we don’t really like to pay taxes, but you don’t get anything worthwhile for FREE. My husband and I have a large property tax bill each year, but we still think it is important to pay taxes to keep our city services going.

So friends, when you receive the voter’s pamphlet this year, read it all very closely. And when voting day comes, be sure to vote for our city and support the Police Department.

You may be hearing from me again, and please don’t fall for the letters that say vote “no.” Some persons don’t care about Sweet Home, but I think most of you do and that is a good thing. Support our Police Department with a “yes” vote.

Thanks for listening.
