Drivers ignoring school speed zone

Editor:

I have a concern about the school zone at Hawthorne School.

The time for the reduced speed was changed this year but it looks like most drivers haven’t noticed.

The flashing lights are still there. They are never on, however.

The sign was changed to 20 mph from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

I have had irate drivers ride my back bumper, trying to get me to go faster.

I have been honked at, yelled at and even been given the one-finger salute.

To those drivers I say this: “READ THE SIGN!!!”

The fine for going 35 in a school zone is doubled. There are no breaks for the guilty drivers.

They can cough up $200 or slow down.

After all, the 20 mph zone is pretty short.
