Sometimes I just have to sit and think they are smarter than I.
I’m watching one of the Presidential candidates tell me how, if he’s elected, he’s going to create new jobs…millions of them.
Now, I don’t pretend to be the pointiest pencil in the pack, but so far as I know, government doesn’t create jobs – do they? The only “jobs” government creates are more non-productive bureaucratic ones. So, when I connect those dots it tends to make me twitch.
From my experience, government jobs are paid for by taxpayers (more taxes), so when the bureaucrats retire from those jobs they receive more than their earned income (even more taxes) and those jobs produce nothing tangible for our economy (no income is produced and no tax revenue generated).
So, if this candidate is sincerely planning to create new jobs, and the only jobs that he can actually create are government jobs…I feel a migraine coming on … who’s paying for all this; him?
Apparently he is smarter than I. There must be some magic in governmental math. I keep surfing the channels for the candidate that says, “If I’m elected I’m going to slash ‘entitlements,’ I’m going to reduce government to the bare essentials, I’m going to seek out governmental waste and hold accountable those who are responsible, and everyone is going to be put on merit pay based on how much under budget their department achieves! I’m going to get the government off the backs of the citizenry so the people can create real jobs and make our country what it once was.”
That’s my candidate! Only problem is, I haven’t found that channel yet…… and I was just starting to lose that twitch!
