The Chamber of Commerce, and the chairpersons for the Sportsman’s Holiday wish to thank The New Era for the tremendous coverage of the Sportsman’s Holiday weekend.
You went above and beyond with photos and descriptions of the events in our town. It did not go un-noticed.
Thank you for your participation in the events. Maybe next year we will be able to get a photo of the editor as he hits the water in the dunk tank. (Sean, you are on notice for this photo.)
Although the day was very warm, folks lining Main and Long Streets seemed to really enjoy the parade as the floats, horses, organizations, and dignitaries in antique and classic cars, passed in review.
Your coverage of this event was fabulous.
All the local city government officials as well as local business men participated in the kiddy carnival. What great fun it was to watch as they tried to dunk the mayor, the editor, the banker and the city manager. The dunk tank served as a wash basin for those who first were subjected to pies in the face.
What an excellent holiday we have to work for and to start planning for a bigger and better one next year.
With plans in the works toward next year’s holiday, the Chamber of Commerce will begin planning in late winter toward the summer fun. Our Sweet Home is the sweetest, isn’t it? And our small town weekly newspaper is the best. A thousand kudos to all of you at The New Era.
