Six Sweet Home wrestlers came away with titles from the freestyle/Greco state championships held Sunday, April 23, at Cottage Grove.
Senior Kobe Olson added to his OSAA title with a state title in Greco at 138 pounds and second in freestyle in the Junior Division.
Freshman Travis Thorpe was a double winner at the Cadet level, taking championships in both Greco and freestyle at 138 pounds.
Freshman Nich James was the champion in Greco at 170 pounds and third in freestyle, also in the Cadet Division.
In the girl’s division, freshman Lexi Schilling placed first at 106 pounds and sophomore Marissa Kurtz was first at 117 pounds, both in freestyle. Freshman Katen Edwards was second in freestyle at 144 pounds.
Other Cadet placewinners were: sophomore Robbie Yunke, second in Greco and third in freestyle at 138 pounds; sophomore Robert Watkins, fifth in freestyle at 126 pounds; sophomore Boe Baxter, fourth in Greco and fifth in freestyle at 145 pounds; freshman Jackson Royer, sixth in freestyle at 132 pounds; sophomore Damion Schocker, third in Greco at 170 pounds; and freshman David McMullen, fifth in Greco and sixth in freestyle at 220 pounds.
Other Junior placewinners were: junior Ricky Yunke, second in Greco and fifth in freestyle at 145 pounds; junior Justin Kurtz, fifth in Greco at 145 pounds; senior Jake Porter, second in Greco and fifth in freestyle at 160 pounds; and Bryce Coulter, second in freestyle and sixth in Greco at 182 pounds.
Also competing, but not placing, were CJ Mitchell and Isaac Schaffer.
“We walked away from the weekend with more hardware than ever before,” Coach Steve Thorpe said. “I was proud of them.”
