Sweet Home’s volleyball team gets one more chance to extend its season.
The Huskies finished their regular season with losses to Sisters (3-0), Sutherlin (3-2) and Cottage Grove (3-0), the latter on Monday night, Oct. 17.
On Tuesday Sweet Home learned that it has qualified for a play-in game to the state tournament at Douglas. Game time and date will be determined.
The Huskies gave Sutherlin a run for its money in a tight match at home, winning the first two games 25-19, 25-22, before losing a barnburner of a third game, 30-28. Sweet Home was still in it in Game 4, 23-24, when Kayley Lopez left the game with an injury. That finished the Huskies off, as they dropped the last game 15-8.
“It was a great team effort,” Coach Mary Huthins said.
Against Cottage Grove on Monday, Sweet Home struggled with serving and receiving and execution, Hutchins said.
“Some good moments, but not nearly enough,” Hutchins said.
Ally Tow finished with 21 kills and four blocks. Madi Barringer had six kills and three blocks.
