Three 2015 Sweet Home HIgh School soccer players, Nick Rodgers, Ramon Fry and Jessi Thomas, are members of the local 19U American Youth Soccer Association Oregon team, while Katie Robeck, is a member of the 14U team. All four are in Florida this week for ASYO national tournaments. The high school team, coached by Sweet Home JV Coach Huck Thomas, includes players from Albany, Lebanon, Brownsville, Halsey and Sweet Home. The team is the first local group that has been invited to the national tournament, which includes 24 teams across various age groups. Robeck’s team members tried out for the team in September and played in a competitive Eugene league to prepare for the national games. In the photo at right, she is holding up a medal from the recent Capiital Cup tournament in Salem. The teams will begin competing on Thursday and return to Oregon on July 11.
